Time to make Gifs.. Still looking for suggestions but I have an idea for a funny one, I think.
Yay not studying!
Tomorrow I’ll be going to a wedding reception/ studying. When I’m studying, I mean doing everything but getting ready for finals.
Put ideas in my ask box for doodles (Really bad doodles) or gif/graphic making(somewhat decent ones). I haven’t done a good image manip in a while, and have yet to do one for Korra.
If not, I’ll just try and whip somethin up from my own brain!
Thanks, and have a good night/day~
P.S. Anon is open!
Thank you! Thank you so much. (Its nice to hear I’m not just babbling to myself and it makes sense.) Its mostly jut putting my feelings into comprehensive words. I also take a lot of joy in people watching and story analysis, so it kind of just.. comes to me. Especially after the 2nd re-watch.
I also really like to debate and discuss this kind of thing, so if you have any opinions of your own, I’d love to hear them!!
Some times you have to get knocked down to know just how hard a hit you can get hit…and still get back up. This episode was tough to watch, seeing the “strong, self assured heroine” take hit after hit, being emotionally effected and then terrified by Amon, left to realize there is so much more to everything than she was willing to see before.
We know Korra is strong, but her emotions and spirituality have yet to be tested and broken and built back up stronger. Its a lot to ask of anyone, male, female, young or old. I also I think those around her can’t separate her from the idea of the Avatar and see her as an individual person, a 17 year old, sheltered girl that is in a new city and still trying to figure out an entire element, her spirituality, and herself. I think Tenzin, (and perhaps Katara, too) is the only one that really gets that separation. I’m sure her parents themselves would do their best to understand it, but they aren’t around to help their daughter out.
The Avatar within needs to be nurtured, as well as the person embodying that spirit.
Other opinions: Fan fan fan fan fan of everyone dressing up. Cuties all around. I am LOVING the episode recaps in old style news reels. Love it, love it.
Peoples:
Bolin’s small gestures were very sweet, and I can’t imagine many people have given Korra personal, small gifts especially as thanks. This is greatly contrasted with Tarlok’s manipulative gifts, over generous and unmerited, which while give wealth lack heart.
Also, Bolin willing to go fight someone for Korra. That’s a bit of a change, even if it was just in theory. Seeing Bolin willing to fight and not run away stirred something within me, and made me feel like he stands and excellent chance at being a great earth bender, if her ever decides to keep his feet on the ground. He’ll bend more than disks when he finds something worth grounding himself for. Perhaps Korra. Perhaps his brother. Perhaps just growing up and being responsible for himself.
I like Asami. I do like her with Mako. I feel like the “I feel so safe with you ” line was a bit much from her though. I can’t pin why, but it just felt weird to hear. And I’m not dissapointed or whatever in Mako as I’ve seen a few people claim. He’s been swept off his feet. Both of the brothers should have investigated when Korra missed practice.
As previously stated, seeing Korra as both a fallible person and the Great avatar is not the easiest task to do and this is the pitfall the brothers fall into.
As for Tenzin, Korra really couldn’t ask for a better mentor.
AND LIN. Present for half a minute, not even, is there to remind Korra she hasn’t done anything to earn a Gala. Some people see this as purely bitchy. I see this moment as Lin being a reminder that Korra needs to remember that she has yet to prove her merits, and anyone seeking her for “her talents” is using her to their own means, not knowing what she is even capable of. Lin is how I like my women, and reminds me greatly of myself. Upfront, no games, pointing out truths and keeping it “real”. While she and I are not without flaws, I feel that people that will say what they think to your face are invaluable. They can be the clearest mirrors of yourself and provide you with honest direction, be they friends, enemies, rude or kind. I firmly believe that Lin will become a strong mentor to Korra, in learning what “Justice” is, as well as when and how to intervene when needed.
..so far. ‘nuff said.
